We didn't quite make it all the way to St. Lois last night. Instead, we decided to find a campground a bit outside of the city and stop for the night. We ended up in Casey, Il. a tiny little farming community. There isn't much in Casey it seems, but the KOA was very nice. We were surrounded by corn fields and farms and our site was right next to "Lake Itty Bit." :)
Last night was our first time trying out the camper's stove and heat, both of which worked quite well. We had chili and mac n' cheese for dinner out on our picnic table and then explored the campground's pool, rec room, and playground. Even though we could see the highway across the lake, we could hardly hear the hum of traffic, and all around it was a very pleasant experience.
In other news: Carl thinks that thus far, Illinois has the wussiest cop cars. I guess Jake and Elwood must have destroyed all the good ones back in 1980.
Nothing else to report quite yet, unless you want to know about truck stops and such. We're actually in route to St. Louis as I type this! Oh I love technology (always... and... forever...). We just saw a classic car/farmer's market on a side road, so we're off to investigate. :)
More pictures and info later. So far the plan is to make it near Joplin MO, or Tulsa OK to set up camp tonight.
